We haven’t needed to advertise since taking out a Yellow Pages directory ad.
That’s what forty-plus years of reputation produces. Our doctors spend their time doing clinical work, not marketing themselves. We get over 150 new referrals a month, most we cannot place and have to refer out.
Who we are
Operating in Ottawa for over 40 years, GPS is the largest group of doctoral-level psychologists in Canada. Multiple office locations, full telehealth infrastructure, admin support, testing and conference rooms, psychometrist access, and a referral management system that routes clients to you based on your specialization and your availability.
Why we’re different
Many group practices run on a fee-split. We don’t. GPS operates on a licensing model: a flat monthly fee for the license to practice with our name and access our shared services, with additional supports available à la carte. You keep everything you earn. See more clients, raise your rate, build your expertise. None of it costs you more.
Our doctors are independent practitioners. GPS is your service provider, not your employer. Your clients are your clients. Your files are your files. You set your fees, your schedule, your caseload, your vacation, your clinical approach. If you leave, your practice goes with you.
What we take off your plate
Psychologists are trained clinically, not in entrepreneurship. A sustainable practice needs consistent, well-matched referrals; a secure online presence integrated with a referral system; and often administrative or psychometrist support. Building that alone takes time, expertise, and capital. Then there’s everything behind it: hiring, onboarding, and training staff. Policies and daily operations. Compliance with health and safety regulations, employment law, and professional standards. Relationships with HR, privacy and information security consultants, legal counsel, insurers, web developers, accountants, landlords, and maintenance. Pricing, branding, SEO. All of it demanding ongoing attention. Being part of a larger group means shared investment in infrastructure and premium services that are difficult to sustain independently. It also means bandwidth for other activities: teaching, speaking, niche programs, groups, content, passion projects. The things that get squeezed out when operations take up the day.
The community
Autonomy doesn’t have to mean isolation. GPS runs peer consultation groups, opportunities for clinical supervision and professional consultation, continuing education events, practice networks, and social connection.
Who thrives here
The doctors who do best with us want freedom with camaraderie and support: the autonomy of solo practice without building the infrastructure alone. Someone who values being part of a recognized, respected name and understands what a strong brand does for a career. Someone thinking in decades, not stepping stones. Most of our doctors trained here and stayed. If you’re a doctoral-level psychologist registered or eligible for registration in your province, we’d like to meet you.
